Repair or replace?
The honest answer is that it depends on three things, and we’ll tell you which one applies:
Age. A 12-year-old architectural shingle roof with one bad valley is a repair. A 24-year-old three-tab roof with the same valley is usually not — you’ll spend the money twice.
Extent. Damage in one plane is a repair. Damage across three or four planes generally means the roof has reached the point where the next failure is already coming.
Layers. If you’re already on two layers, the City of Boise won’t permit a third — so a large repair now means a full tear-off later regardless. Sometimes that changes the maths.
We put the recommendation in writing either way. If a repair buys you five more years, that’s what we’ll tell you — we’d rather do your repair now and your roof in 2031 than sell you something you didn’t need.
