This matters enormously if you’re going to file an insurance claim. Once a tarp goes on, the damage underneath is invisible to an adjuster. We document the roof, the interior, and the point of entry before anything gets covered.
We check the attic
Water travels. A ceiling stain in the hallway can come from a failure twenty feet away, and the attic is where you actually see the path.
